Street Lights

The decision to leave made all sense at that moment of time. She took her keys out of the pocket, made sure her wallet is in the backpack as she lifted it to one shoulder, and left.

She was unhappy.  She tried, but certain events kept creeping on her, suffocating her, so she decided to leave.

She reversed the car out of the parking space, happy with that progress.  Breathed heavily and slowly, and pressed the accelerator so hard once reached the open and empty road, somehow to satisfy an urge of rejecting and objecting to silly rules.

It was dark, and the streets lights took her mind into memories and memories. She stopped aside, and cried her suffocation out.

After a long while, she looked up and realized how far away from home she was, how late she was, and how much in need to that dear hug she was.

She went and knocked on that dear door, hugged her dad, laughed between her mum’s arms, knowing she is not going back.
